SparkBeyond
AI analytics platform
SparkBeyond’s Discovery automatically discovers novel features and insights in complex data. Reliably deployed at Fortune 500 companies worldwide, the platform automatically surfaces a comprehensive list of the relevant factors driving any business outcome.
I joined SparkBeyond as Director of UX and the company’s first UX Designer, surrounded by Data Scientists, AI developers and algorithm experts. In the next 4 years I’ve built and managed a team of 8 UX and UI Experts, including 2 Leads, and shifted a tech-oriented organization into experience and design thinking state of mind.
I promoted a full UI facelift, traveled the world to meet and interview users and successfully built new products, modules and features.
Together with my team, I led the design of a new user-friendly product with a drag-and-drop wizard-like interface, allowing non-data professionals to combine the hardest data types, and discover novel insights in one place, fast, without the usual scripting, coding, and IT hand-holding.

Challenge
For years SparkBeyond’s insights found in complex data were presented to its users - mostly experienced Data Scientists - as a long list of complex math equations. The table view made it hard to analyze the results, compare different metrics and eventually find important business impactful insights.
Solution
Together with the Director of Product, I created the Insight Studio - A tool for analyzing the machine’s automated results, making comparisons, commenting, collaborating and finding impactful insights to business problems.
Instead of the old table view, I chose to use a split view of both cards and a data visualization, allowing users to quickly understand where any insight is located in compare to others, and still sort them out by different metrics. The cards where designed in a way that emphasizes the most important data, so going over hundreds of potential insights becomes easier than ever.
I had the privilege of traveling to some of our biggest clients in Europe to present the new tool and gather important feedback that helped us keep improving the design.
